The Department of Architecture and Design cordially invites you to a public lecture by Edouard Francois entitled "Green Architecture" on March 30, 2011 at 6:30 pm in the Charles W. Hostler Student Center Auditorium.

Edouard Francois, a graduate of the L'Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in architecture and urbanism, began his own practice in 1998. He is best known for his radical private and social housing, such as L'immeuble qui pousse (2000), and EdenBio (2008) which, like all of his works, form links with the ecology of place. Among Francois's other iconic works are the Tower Flower (2004), Fouquet's Barriere (2005), both in Paris, and the Skinwall project in Grenoble (2008). Ongoing design includes a group of school buildings at Chartres, a commercial center in Honfleur, and the Metropolitan Hotel in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

Agence Edouard Francois regularly participates in competitions, with buildings and projects winning several awards. Most recently, Frangois was named createur de l'annee, 2011. He is a Fellow of RIBA. His sketches and models are in the permanent collection of the Pompidou Center and have been widely exhibited elsewhere. He is published internationally, and has been publicly acclaimed for his inventive contributions to sustainable building.
